You mean the rigged game? Thing is the refs would have had to rig a game for the Lakers to lose, and the only opportunity the refs have had would have been game 3.
Keep in mind, the idea was the refs rigged the game to boost finals ratings, not because the Lakers paid them off too, so if that really happened, take it out on the refs not the Lakers unless it comes out that the Lakers were paying the refs off.

Does anybody remember Game 7 against the Sac Queens? The Kings blew it at home, they were horrible at the line, 3 point and turnovers. This is when Arco Arena was the loudest arena in the NBA. honestly that's a good idea, but SALARY CAP iss getting on their way, they already have three luxurious players in the name of Bryant, Gasol, and Odom. getting Kidd might mean another blockbuster trade. remember during Gasol's trade, they sign-and-trade Aaron Mckie (waived by LAL) just to match Gasol's salary. if they do that again that means they need to give up at least three good supporting players just to match Kidd's luxurious salary, and its not really worth it.
and somehow the LAL have Fisher, which is veteran point guard, and a D-League star point guard, Farmar.
with regards to Kidd, Dallas might be a perfect fit for him, but Dallas' GM Mark Cuban is not on the role of getting soon to retire players, not unless his desperate for a Championship. I think Kidd should go to a team without a legit superstar. Memphis, Clippers, Minnesota, and of course Portland.

As has been pointed out it's Oswego. Linda Cohn was a goaltender on the women's team in the early 80's. It was great to have a women's team back, but as for the above poster's assertion that the women's team is almost as popular as the men's team that's not true. They're great and I hope they continue to build and play well under Coach Dillon, but having attended games for both teams this past season they have a long way to go to come close to matching the attendance and crowd involvement of the men.

The wierd thing here is that even tho Kobe's skills are more honed at this point than Lebron's, and I would argue that the Lakers actually have more talent (Lamar Odom is capable on some nights of playing like an All-star, Walton is an intelligent solid player, Phil Jackson is a Hall of Fame coach), the Lakers are not as solid of a team as the Cavs. I think this points towards the fact that Kobe is not a leader. He is trying, and is admittedly better at it than 2 years ago, but still is not a very good leader. The Cavs are more cohesive because Lebron inspires his teammates to work together, whereas Kobe's teammates can sense that he doesn't truly trust them when the pressure hits, so the Lakers fall apart when it matters. If you read Phil's book, he talks about how Kobe would never hang out with the group, he goes off by himself and is antisocial. Shaq's book says the same thing. Not wanting to be around your teammates isn't the quality of a leader.
The main problem is that Kobe perceives that the team's failures to come together are because other guys can't step it up. No.1 - Kobe Bryant -who else? Kobe came from a surgery in the off season, yet, he showed how great he is, he shoots the ball very well and this time, makes play and shares the ball with his teammates. He had matured a lot when it comes to his type of play, he does not force the shots anymore, he makes a way on how his teammates could be open so that he can dish it ot to them, and because of the energy that he gives out to his coach, teammates and hometown crowd. And most importantly, because of his leadership.
No. 2 - Lamar Odom -Last year was not a good year for him, even though they made the playoffs, Kobe carried the team on his back, but this season, he has helped Kobe not only in points, but also in making plays for his teammates.
No. 3 - Luke Walton -He was in the starting lineup several times last year, and did not took advantage of it. But this time, he just proved everyone that he is worty of that position. He averages double figures so far, had a good shooting percentage specially on 3's, and passes the ball very well that creates open opportunities for his teammates.
No. 4 - Phil Jackson -It is a wonder how the Lakers was able to rebuilt in just a very short period of time, whoelse will be the reason for it? Of course Phil Jackson. He is just a great coach that even the likes of Smush Parker and Luke Walton can have their break away season because of the the trust that Phil gave to these players. And look how he made the Lakers play as a solid team even though i is a very young team. Not only on offense but also in defense. And most of all, he and Kobe just had a good chemistry that really made the foundation for the team chemistry.
No. 5 -The Lakers young talents -Andrew Bynum, Jordan Farmar, and of course nclude Luke and Smush. These young guys including also the others I was not able to mention, provides a big help in scoring, defense and also in energizing the team. An example of that is Ronny Turiaf, he plays only a very limited time, but when ever he plays, he gives it all. And these guys are the ones that really contribute when guys like Kobe and Lamar are off.

KOBE is the Lakers great equalizers when they play most team; but the Spurs have Bruce Bowen %26amp; Bowen jr. (Ime Udoka) Bowen is the only player in recent history who has actually shut Kobe down (held him to 8 pts %26amp; 3 ast), at the same time he scored 18 points himself.
FISHER is a fantastic point man andgreat complimentary shooter to Kobe. However in the matchup he isn't as fast or as quick as Parker. He cna't break down a defense anywhere near as effeciently as Parker. He Shoots better from the mid range and out side the arc. But if Parker is attacking the paint it's like having another big man. Plus when he's in the paint opponents fouls go up dramatically.
ODOM: Lamar is the toughest cover on the team contrary to what any would think. Being 6'10" and yet being able to handle a ball almost like a little man makes Odom one of the most difficule men to matchup in the league. The Spurs can matchup on him size wize, but the problem comes in where they have to make trade offs for doing it. They can put Bob Horry on him who is also 6'10" and can generate some offense, but Bob isn't a great ball handeler. There is also a bit of loss on defense. If Bowen or Udoka covers him, it normally means taking them off of Kobe.
RADMANOVIC: Depending on who covers him it's just a trade off of some height or a slightly better defender (Thomas or Oberto).
GASOL: Pau is an excellent addition to the Lakers organization. He was a steal of a trade and with a bit of luck will help the Lakers get what has eluded them for so long. But as far as Matchups go dont lie to your self; Gasol is a great ball player, but Duncan is head and shoulders above him. If they were to meet in a Lakers vs Spurs series sure Gasol is going to get in a few great plays, but Duncan is going to get the better of the matchup between these two. that goes without saying. He always has, and always will.
The bottom line is that it comes down to bench play. Since The Spurs play a KEY person of the bench (Ginobili) that gives the Spurs bench the edge over seven games.
I think that the teams would split the first two games. Then Split the second two. Then the Spurs would take the final two.

The wierd thing here is that even tho Kobe's skills are more honed at this point than Lebron's, and I would argue that the Lakers actually have more talent (Lamar Odom is capable on some nights of playing like an All-star, Walton is an intelligent solid player, Phil Jackson is a Hall of Fame coach), the Lakers are not as solid of a team as the Cavs. I think this points towards the fact that Kobe is not a leader. He is trying, and is admittedly better at it than 2 years ago, but still is not a very good leader. The Cavs are more cohesive because Lebron inspires his teammates to work together, whereas Kobe's teammates can sense that he doesn't truly trust them when the pressure hits, so the Lakers fall apart when it matters. If you read Phil's book, he talks about how Kobe would never hang out with the group, he goes off by himself and is antisocial. Shaq's book says the same thing. Not wanting to be around your teammates isn't the quality of a leader.

Besides Kobe, I don't see any other good defenders on the Lakers squad. In Ron Artest, you have a lockdown defender who brings toughness and scoring.

Although I'm a Laker fan during the regular season, I bet my friend $10 that the Suns would win the series. I think that the Suns will definitely win tomorrow. They have home court advantage and they're getting Raja Bell back. If you look back at this series, the Suns always win if they get 100 or more points. If they can get energized and get their crowd going, they're more likely to get their running game going.

I personally don't think it matters if Kobe gets 50 or not. Jordan always did. The key is the role players need to step it up in the same game whether Kobe is hot or not. And the key is defense and not making bad passes. And Luke Walton needs to stop playing team captain and going away from Kobe when he's hot and then expecting him to bail them out all the time at the end. In general smart basketball is feeding the hot hand and not turning the ball over. Then D-Fence.
The Lakers are not going to win against the Suns in Pheonix. Even though the Suns are playing at home thats not the biggest reason why they are going to win. The biggest reason the Suns are gonna win is because of their depth. They have different makers coming off the bench and all the Lakers have is Kobe. Kobe is a fantastic player but as you can see in the last game they cant win if he scores almost more than half of his team's points. Honestly? Neither team. I am not hoping for anyone. They're both tough teams. Boston Celtics is a dangerous team despite having a hard time and being exposed in the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons have the experience like the Spurs. They have a younger, deeper and better bench than the defending champs. But as an Lakers and NBA Fan, I would love to see the Lakers VS Celtics in the finale for a fairy-tale Finals match-up. No chance! First the Lakers have their future center in Andrew Bynum who is up for re-signing at the end of the year- he will sign a near-max contract, and they still have to pay Kobe, Pau, and Lamar.
Shaq is making $20 million a year and is under contract with the Suns- the Lakers would not trade away their future to get a slowed down Shaq who has 2 years left max.
Also the Lakers have some great team chemistry right now- and adding Shaq back in the mix wouldn't necessarily help that.

Why does it take Kobe getting a technical foul to start getting the game called evenly on both sides. The free throws were Boston 38 the Lakes 10. Give me a break! Even the broadcasters were mentioning it. One thing would happen...Laker foul. The next time it would happen with Boston the ball would go the other way. The lakers would be good as soon as they get rid of batty boy/chi chi man kobe bryant. I always feel that they should trade him to the mavericks for a great package such as jason terry, devin harris, and josh howard and a first year team to have a very young talented team. Imagine Lamar Odom as your leader, Bynum developing more offensively, Howard as your great 2nd or 3th scorer, and great depth at guards devin harris, jason terry, and derek fisher.

Thanks for the news. i didn't even know pau got hurt till i read your tag... he'll be fine, it's just a sprain, and i don't see any chemistry problems for the lakers... for the first time in three years (i've watched the lakers since 1980) the chemistry has been about teamwork. phil had even said that when bynum gets back he'll be coming off the bench at first to get in game shape. and then the starting line-up so it'll look like this in the playoffs:

I've noticed some teams have a history of great players at a certain position...the Lakers had Wilt, Kareem, and Shaq...the Suns have had Kevin Johnson, Jason Kidd, Steve Nash...

you make a good point. this could be because they had 1 legend at a position. and other good players saw what that player did there and want to come. its like incollegefootball how the top recruits always go to certain schools.
The spurs have had good pf's. david robinson, tim duncan, robert horry.
the pistons are becoming known for having exceptional guard tandems isiah thomas and joe dumars, and chauncey billups and richard hamilton. it was thought that lindsay hunter and allan houston would be next in line after isiah and joe since they were drafted 10th and 11th overall in in the same draft but it never panned out.
thats just a bunch of superstars they hired
or those players might have a big role in the offense they play
